Privacy Policy

When you make a booking, we collect your full name, email address, phone number, and optionally your postal address and any special requests you share with us.

If you check in digitally, we additionally collect a photo of your government ID or passport, the names of everyone in your party, and an emergency contact.

If you create an account, we store your name, email and a securely hashed password — we never store your password itself, only a one-way cryptographic hash of it.

We never collect or store your card or mobile money details. Payments are processed directly by Paystack; we only receive confirmation that a payment succeeded, its amount, and a transaction reference.

To hold and confirm your reservation, process payment, meet Ghanaian guest-registration requirements at check-in, contact you about your stay (confirmations, reminders, access instructions), and — only if you opt in — to send occasional news and offers.

Only the services that make the booking work: Paystack (payments), Resend (email delivery), our database and file storage providers, and an error-monitoring service that helps us catch bugs. None of them are permitted to use your information for their own purposes. We do not sell guest information to anyone.

Booking records are kept for as long as needed for accounting, tax and dispute-resolution purposes. Identity documents uploaded at check-in are encrypted at rest and automatically deleted 90 days after checkout — nobody, including us, can read one after that.

Identity documents are encrypted before they are stored. Account passwords are hashed with Argon2id, an industry-standard algorithm designed to resist cracking even if our database were ever exposed. Access to guest information inside our booking system is restricted to authorised staff only.

Under the Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843), you can ask us what information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it (subject to what we are legally required to keep for accounting purposes). To do any of this, email stay@baobabnook.com and we will respond within a reasonable time.

We use only the cookies necessary to keep you signed in and to hold your booking while you check out — nothing that tracks you across other websites, and no advertising cookies.

If this policy changes materially, we will update this page. Continuing to use Baobab Nook after a change means you accept the updated policy.
